SUMMARY:Executive Summit – Introduction to Maine Career Connect & Proposal for Upper Valley Program
DESCRIPTION:We would like to formally invite you to a morning event we are co-hosting on Friday\, November 15\, 2019 from 8:00am-10:30am at the Courtyard Marriott in Lebanon. A light breakfast will be provided.\n\n \n\nAs the Upper Valley seeks to continue growth of its workforce\, it has become increasingly important that we recruit and retain exceptional talent to lead our institutions\, businesses\, and communities. With a tight labor market\, New Hampshire's aging demographics and the rural setting of our location working against us\, it has become evident that a collaborative effort among area employers is needed more than ever.\n\n \n\nWe are bringing together employers\, crossing industries\, to introduce the Maine Career Connect program that started based on a similar need in Eastern Maine. This non-profit program was founded in 2013 and has since expanded to additional regions\, supporting newly relocated professionals and their families with their transition to Maine communities. We are proposing a similar program\, to be housed under the newly formed Upper Valley Business Alliance (UVBA is the result of the merger of the Hanover and Lebanon Area Chambers of Commerce. UVBA will commence January 2020).\n\n \n\nMaine Career Connect as well as the proposed program in the Upper Valley\, focuses on:\n\n Supporting recruitment efforts through meetings with candidates while in the area for interviews to discuss concerns\, opportunities and mitigate misperceptions\;\n Finding employment opportunities for partners of current and newly hired employees\;\n Locating activities\, hobbies\, resources\, housing and volunteer opportunities for families\; and\n Connecting newcomers quickly and in meaningful ways both socially and professionally with a goal of helping root them in the community.\n\nWe invite you to learn more about this program and how it may benefit your company\, engage in discussion and support the efforts of establishing this collaborative program.\n\nWe very much look forward to seeing you on November 15th at 8:00am at the Courtyard Marriott in Lebanon. Should you have any questions\, please contact Tracy Hutchins at 603-448-1203 or Michelle Hale at 603-646-8838.
