Music and dance interact in an intimate, unexpected ways in two great artists’ collaboration on the Goldberg Variations. Dinnerstein is internationally acclaimed for her interpretation of Bach’s elegant masterpiece, while Tanowitz is known for dance that is distinctly modern, infused with ballet and a playful spirit. In this work, Dinnerstein performs at a concert grand at center stage, around which Tanowitz’s dancers—as if conjured by the music—execute fresh, intricate movement revealing the rich emotional world of Bach’s studies.
