SCORE Announces Spring Workshop Series Sponsored by Ledyard Bank LEBANON, NH (March 2, 2018) -- SCORE is announcing its Winter Workshop series sponsored by Ledyard Bank on Thursday evenings from 5-8 p.m. beginning March 22 and running through April 26, 2018. These low-cost business training workshops and seminars ($30 each session and if you bring a partner its $45, while veterans can attend free) provide time to network with presenters, participants and SCORE mentors and are designed for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. In addition to learning new content and practices, the workshops also offer an opportunity to interact with other local small business owners, or prospective business owners. The Spring Workshop Series held at the Citizens Bank Building in downtown Lebanon includes: Thursday, March 22, 2018 - So You Want To Be An Entrepreneur About This Session: Learn the basics of creating a new business – critical aspects of a business plan, product and marketing strategy, legal aspects, and financial fundamentals. Based on material prepared by SCORE Mentors this workshop covers the basic elements that one must consider in starting a business. A primer on developing and managing any new business, this key workshop provides critical materials and a step-by-step process for developing a workable business plan - this is important for all small businesses and essential when bank or other third - party financing is being sought. The format is a combination of presentations and discussion. Thursday, March 29, 2018- Business Bookkeeping About This Session: If you are starting or running a small business, you need to keep track of the numbers to find out how you are doing. This "Accounting 101" overview gets you started with understanding the basic accounting concepts. Prepared by experts in a language the small business person can understand, this workshop will teach you a straightforward way to keep score with respect to the financial performance and condition of your business. In this "hands-on" workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of financial statements and how they are prepared. Thursday, April 5, 2018 -- Quickbooks (Online Version) About This Session: This workshop focuses on using the ONLINE version of Quickbooks financial software to help you plan and run your business. No previous knowledge of Quickbooks is required, although a basic understanding of bookkeeping would be helpful. Quickbooks examples are shown and discussed, though there is no need to bring a laptop to the session. Thursday, April 12, 2018 - Marketing, Planning and Strategy About This Session: Marketing is the management process through which customer demand is created for goods and/or services. Marketing strategy is constructed of four elements called the four P's of marketing: 1. Identification, selection and development of a product, 2. Determination of its price, 3. Selection of a distribution channel to reach the customer's place, and 4.Development and implementation of a promotional strategy. Marketing planning is the coordination of those four P’s. Our workshop will allow participants to dip their toe in the waters of marketing strategy and planning so that they leave with an excellent sense for the questions they need to answer to set on a successful path. Thursday, April 19, 2018 - If it is lonely at the top maybe you should create an Advisory Board About This Session: This workshop explores the benefits for some businesses to form an advisory board. How to recruit, evaluate and retain board members; How to structure and establish frequency of meetings; How to set agendas, discussion topics, and more. The benefits of an advisory board will help keep you focused and thinking “outside the box”. Thursday, April 26, 2018 - The Valuation and Sale of a Business About This Session: This is an important workshop that will help prospective sellers understand a proven process to maximize success. Topics covered include analyzing the business--the strengths and weaknesses; understanding the marketplace; business valuation and the proper selling price and terms; and more.
