Ever felt like the most awkward person at a party? Not at this party: that role is covered by dancers Monica Bill Barnes and Elisa Clark, dressed in men's suits and steeped in ridiculous overconfidence. While you sip and socialize as at a typical office function, they swagger in and execute increasingly competitive dance numbers in an attempt to impress the ladies. No one makes better fun of mildly toxic masculinity than these two women. Choreographed by Barnes and performed by Barnes, Clark, and Robbie Saenz de Viteri, this hilarious, cathartic riff on gender roles and vulnerability has been performed everywhere from a barn in upstate New York to a villa in Italy. Barnes founded MBB&CO in 1997 with the mission to celebrate individuality, humor, and the innate theatricality of everyday life. Other shows include The Museum Workout, in which the performers lead a choreographed exercise routine in an art museum; One Night Only (Running As Long As We Can), which announces dance performance play by play like sports; and Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host, where they turn radio stories into dance. In addition to Barnes, Clark and Creative Producing Director Saenz de Viteri, the company includes Set/Costume Designer Kelly Hanson and Lighting Designer Jane Cox. Together, this team creates the most unlikely experiences for every kind of audience.
