Choreographer and dancer Camille A. Brown leads her irresistible company in ink, which moves through captivating stories about identity and self-empowerment in African and African American culture. Brown nimbly combines movement styles from social dance, ritual, hip hop, tap and everyday life, enhanced by artist David L. Arsenault’s collage projections and onstage musicians. ink sweeps in time from the slave trade to the present, from griots to DJs, depicting the comedy, sensuality and political edge in black fellowship. Widely known for her TED talk on social dance in the African diaspora and as choreographer for NBC’s recent live broadcast of Jesus Christ Superstar, Brown brings her own distinct vision.
