The first in a series of three discussions and one lecture co-sponsored by Howe Library and The Center for Cartoon Studies, to be held at 6:15 p.m. in the Howe Library cafe. We will discuss Mother, Come Home by Paul Hornschemeier. In this "exceptionally powerful" (Booklist) story about grief, courage, and the loss of childhood innocence, a boy watches his father slowly disintegrate as both struggle to cope with the boy's mother's death. The discussion will be co-led by Heather Backman from Howe Library and Jen Vaughn from The Center for Cartoon Studies. Those interested are welcome to attend any number of events in the series; you do not have to attend all four programs if you wish to participate. Howe Library will have copies of the discussion books available for checkout by any discussion participant.
