Wild Edibles Sunday, May 13, 2012 1:00pm - 5:00pm From morels to fiddleheads, begin your search for wild foods this spring with renowned local experts Nova Kim and Les Hook. The class includes fieldwork and discussions targeted to participants’ interests, and a seasonal guide to wild harvesting. NOVA KIM & LES HOOK were featured guests of the 2005 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Washington, DC; presenters on Wild Resources, Terre Madre 2006, the Slow Food World Meeting of Food Communities, Turin, Italy; participants in the 2007 Native Food Summit, Santa Fe, NM; and the 2008 Slow Food RAFT (Renewing American Food Traditions) Conference, Vermont; etc. Les was born and raised on a farm in central Vermont. Nova, who is part Osage Indian, was raised on a horse ranch in Wyoming. Their wealth of information about forest resources draws on both traditional ecological knowledge and extensive reading in the popular and scientific literature.
